Three ways to join Troop 20
1) New Scouts: Visit us at a Wednesday meeting and meet the scouts, without any obligation to join. You may even participate in certain events. Have a conversation with the Senior Patrol Leader (Youth) and/or Scoutmaster (Adult) to discuss Troop 20. If you like what you see and hear, we will offer you an application. Note: many of our scouts were not cub scouts; in fact, you don't need any scouting or outdoor experience to join.
2) Transfer from another Troop: Similar to #1 above, visit us at a Wednesday meeting and meet the scouts, without any obligation to join. You may even participate in certain events. Have a conversation with the Senior Patrol Leader (Youth) and/or Scoutmaster (Adult) to discuss Troop 20. If you like what you see and hear, we will offer you a transfer application.
3) Cross Over from any Cub Scout Pack to Boy Scout Troop 20: There are Webelos Advancement Requirements to visit a Boy Scout meeting and scout-oriented outdoor activity. We encourage this at Troop 20. Visit us at a Wednesday meeting and meet the scouts, without any obligation to join. You may even participate in certain events. Have a conversation with the Senior Patrol Leader (Youth) and/or Scoutmaster (Adult) to discuss Troop 20. If you like what you see and hear, you will be invited to the Crossover Ceremony. This ceremony occurs annually in the spring and is usually held concurrently with the Myerstown Cub Scout Pack 460 Webelos 2 Graduation and Arrow of Light Ceremony. See our calendar for dates. It's common for cub scouts from packs other than 460 to cross over into Troop 20. Please coordinate your ceremony attendance with the Troop 20 Scoutmaster.
Then What Happens After I Decide to Join?
You're in and the adventure begins! Complete the application and give it to the Scoutmaster. Pay your one-time, initial registration fee, currently $40. Dues are then $2/week and pre-payment is encouraged. As per the Troop 20 Handbook, you will be given a new Boy Scout Handbook, Troop 20 neckerchief and Troop 20 Class B T-shirt.
